Message from the CIF-IFC President
2010 CIF-IFC Annual General Meeting and Conference
With increasing attention being paid to land use planning world-wide, I am delighted to announce that our 102nd Annual General Meeting and Conference will devote its attention to this topic.
The event, titled Regional Land Use Planning in the Global Economy, will be hosted in Jasper National Park, Alberta which provides a beautifully natural setting and an interesting historical context to discuss this important topic.
The organizing committee of the Rocky Mountain Section has developed a dynamic program comprised of leading regional, national and international speakers and field tours illustrating land use planning challenges and solutions. As in many other jurisdictions, Alberta faces increasing challenges with respect to land use and planning. Competing resource values and objectives against a backdrop of the global economy set the stage for innovative approaches to secure a vibrant and sustainable future for all.
This conference will, without a doubt, uphold the tradition of the Canadian Institute of Forestry in providing a program that is universally relevant, essential to our collective understanding and entertaining. Moreover, the companion program will provide unique opportunities to meet new friends while experiencing Jasper Park’s natural setting, culture and local history. Activities and events are being planned that simply should not be missed.
I am excited about the 2010 AGM and Conference and look forward to seeing you there.
