Inaugural meeting and workshop on “Forest Ecosystem Resilience” - September 29 & 30, 2010

The inaugural meeting of the CIF - Forest Ecology Working Group will be held on Wednesday September 29 and Thursday September 30, 2010 (immediately following the CIF Annual Meeting and Conference in Jasper).

The objectives of the working group will be to provide:

  1. a venue for Canadian scientists working in forest ecology to meet in connection with a Canadian Institute of Forestry - Forest Ecology Working Group;
  2. a way for scientists and practitioners to meet and discuss current issues; and
  3. a meeting place for Canadian forest ecology students.

The theme of this 2010 workshop is “Forest Ecosystem Resilience” and will focus on its definition, quantification and application to forest management in Canada. The program will include invited keynote speakers, volunteer presentations, and discussions. The workshop will be held Wednesday September 29 from 3 pm to 5 pm and Thursday September 30 from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Cost of the workshop will be: $100.00 (Early Bird - Before August 1, 2010); $125.00 (Regular – After August 1, 2010). There is no registration fee for students.

Note: Those wishing to register for the Forest Ecology Working Group Meeting and Workshop MUST register for at least one day of the CIF Conference.
